General information

Casa Vacanza Anna and Casa Vacanza Elena are two independent villas, family-run since 2014, located in Santino in the municipality of San Bernardino Verbano, a quiet and sunny village at the entrance to the Val Grande National Park.

Located on the Piedmont shore of Lake Maggiore, a 15-minute drive from the most important towns: Stresa, Villa Pallavicino, Baveno, the Borromean Islands, Suna, Pallanza, Villa Taranto, Intra, Cannero – Castelli di Cannero, Cannobio, Lake Mergozzo, and Lake Orta.

The town hall, post office, small café, and public charging station for electric cars are just 50 meters away.

A five-minute walk from the houses takes you to the San Bernardino River, where you can fish and swim in the clear, prisƟne waters from the Rio Pogallo springs in Val Grande.

A few kilometers from Santino (about a 30-minute drive), passing through Bieno, you reach Alpe Ompio, and passing through Rovegro, you reach Cicogna, a small village in the heart of Val Grande.

Within an hour’s drive, you can reach the most important towns in Piedmont, Lombardy, and nearby Switzerland (Locarno), including the Ossola Valley, the Formazza Valley, the Bognanco Valley, the VigezzoValley, Macugnaga, Mottarone, Milan, Turin, Varese, and Como.

Also about an hour’s drive away are the Swiss border at Brissago, Malpensa International Airport, and the Verbania-Pallanza (Fondotoce) train station on the Milan-Domodossola line.

The Verbania-Intra station is also a 15-minute drive away, as is the Verbania-Intra station, which connects Piedmont with Lombardy via the Intra-Laveno ferry service.

Historical notes

Casa Vacanza Elena was personally built brick by brick in the 1950s by Elena’s great-grandparents, originally from Santino: Bergoƫti Alfonso, a bricklayer specializing in Switzerland, and his wife Gioconda.

It was later completed by their son Bergotti Remo and his wife Adelaide.

Grandma Adelaide adored children. For this reason, her granddaughter Elena, in memory of her beloved grandmother, wanted to combine a tourism business with a focus on families with children.

Casa Vacanza Anna, named after Bergotti Remo and Adelaide’s daughter.

In the 1960s, Remo, a professional painter and artisan, built the property as a garage and storage space for his professional materials.

Later, ino the 1990s, his daughter Anna and her husband Gianni Magistris decided to renovate the property, converting it into residential use.

Only in 2014 did their daughter Elena, along with her parents Anna and Gianni, decide to start the vacation rental business, to introduce our area to families who want to spend their holidays in complete relaxation.

The strength of both properties is the warm welcome and the owners’ willingness to be there whenever guests need assistance.
